Swimming lessons across the city

Our lessons are all about developing confident and competent swimmers through fun and enjoyment. Following the Swim England Learn to Swim framework, the aim of Freedom Leisure is to ensure all learners gain the highest level of water confidence, and develop strong swimming skills and swimming techniques that will stay with them for life. We have three fantastic pools offering lessons - Prince Regent Swimming Complex and St Luke’s swimming pool in Brighton, and King Alfred Leisure Centre in Hove.

Level Up Soft Play

Level Up Soft Play at Withdean is packed with fun for all ages, featuring bash bags, ball pits, super slides and an exciting tag game. Credits are available to purchase, giving kids freedom to play their way. There’s also a dedicated sensory toddler space, creating a safe, stimulating environment for younger children to explore and enjoy. Level Up is open every day, book now!

Junior Gym Sessions – Withdean Sports Complex Junior Gym sessions are available Monday to Sunday for ages 12–16. Bookable online via Junior Activation, (parent or guardian required to complete and sign a young person’s PAR-Q before attending) Junior Gym – Portslade Sports Centre Available Monday to Friday for ages 12–16. Sessions are £5.00 per visit. Drop in and pay at reception. Please contact the centres you wish to use about specific times

Free Swimming for Under 18s

Children and young people can swim for free during all public and general swimming sessions at the following times: Monday to Friday from 3:30pm during school term time Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays All day during Brighton & Hove school holidays They will need to fill out a form with proof of address

HighSports Climbing at Withdean image

HighSports Climbing at Withdean

Climbers can enjoy walls up to 13m high, offering both lead and top‑rope routes for all abilities. With 58 rope lines and 9 auto‑belays, there’s plenty of variety and space to explore. The bouldering area features over 60 problems, alongside a dedicated training zone designed to help climbers build strength, technique, and confidence.

Hire courts on our indoor sports halls at Moulsecoomb, Portslade, King Alfred and Stanley Play badminton, basketball, pickleball, a game of footy, whatever you would like (within reason). We also have a range of outdoor pitches at Withdean, Stanley and Portslade

Join our weekly gymnastics sessions at Portslade Sports Centre. Mondays 4–5pm and 5–6pm are £23.95 per month by Direct Debit, with a 6–7.30pm session available for £35.35 per month. All memberships are set up easily at reception. Perfect for building strength, confidence and skills.

Wild Climbers Kids Club offers an engaging introduction to climbing for young children, with sessions designed around key Early Years learning areas. Classes run Monday and Wednesday from 4:15–5:30pm, and Sundays from 9:45–11:00am. Sessions are booked half‑termly in 6–8 week blocks at £19 per session. Activities focus on teamwork, communication, focus, agility, balance and coordination in a fun, inclusive environment.

Quadkids offers fun, energetic athletics training for children, held every Monday and Friday from 5–6pm on the athletics track. Brighton & Hove City Athletics Club Juniors provides a strong pathway for young athletes, encouraging multi‑sports and multi‑events in early development. Led by experienced coaches Richard and Sean, the group trains Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6–7pm. Members are expected to compete when selected, with league matches held across Sussex and the South East, plus additional Open meetings supported by coaches.

At weekends we offer a full junior tennis programme for all ages and stages. Mini Tennis Red (ages 5–8) runs on Saturday at 9.00am and 10.00am, and Sunday at 11.30am (£40.25 monthly DD).
