Padel Tennis at Withdean
Try something new!
Padel tennis is the new racquet sport taking the tennis world by storm and we have courts available at Withdean! A mixture of squash and tennis, Padel is a sport usually played in doubles which combines fast-moving action with social interaction and fun. Played using a stringless racquet and a low compression tennis ball, you serve by bouncing the ball on the ground and below hip height. It’s a sport that requires a special court so we have erected one here at Withdean. You can find the padel courts by the upper car park.! Give it a go…we promise you’ll find it addictive!!
Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely! We’re happy to welcome both members and non members to Withdean.
Indoor courts are renowned for being quicker as there is less wind, less chance of dirt and moisture on the ball and the courts are generally more flat and smooth. Outdoor courts can be a little more challenging as you are susceptible to whatever the weather throws at you, especially in Winter!
Tennis is brilliant for your overall fitness and helps sharpen hand-eye coordination. The wide range of motion required to play tennis helps tone and strengthen muscles throughout the body. While it is a competitive sport, it’s also a great social activity, especially if you’re playing doubles and, let’s face it, it’s more fun than hitting the gym! Tennis also helps refine your self control and problem-solving skills, while letting off steam at the same time. What’s not to love?
