What does “Agent” mean?

An Agent is a person or organisation appointed to act for another party. The party they represent is known as the Principal.

In many local government arrangements, councils appoint an agent to deliver certain public services on their behalf. Where this applies, the Agent helps provide the service to residents and acts as the day-to-day point of contact between the council and customers.

Freedom Leisure and Local Councils

Freedom Leisure operates leisure and fitness services in partnership with local councils and authorities.

Where Freedom Leisure is acting as an agent, any membership, class booking or related service you purchase through us is made on behalf of your local council. This means your agreement is with the council and the council’s terms and conditions apply.

Freedom Leisure’s responsibility is to manage and run the facilities and services on the council’s behalf, including the day-to-day operation of centres, bookings and customer support, so the council can provide leisure services to the local community.

Freedom Leisure acts as an agent of:
  • Ashford Borough Council - Tenterden Leisure Centre only
  • Powys County Council
