GP Referral (NERS) FAQs

GP Referral (National Exercise Referral Scheme) FAQs...

I have been referred by my GP. What do i need to do now?

You will need to wait for the GP referral team to get in contact with you to arrange your consultation. Once you have had your consultation you will be able to start your GP referral programme.

I’ve had my induction with my NERS consultant and now I need to book into the gym to begin my programme. How do I book my NERS session in my local leisure centre?

Your NERS leader will bring you to our reception team to get your signed up onto our system. Once you have been signed up you can call up and book over the phone with our reception team or you can book your session online via our online booking system.

What’s the online booking system and how do I use it?

To book your session online you will need to create a leisure hub account. To create an account you will need to have an email address. All you need to do is go to Freedom Leisure Hub click ‘I am a member and I need to create an account’. Simply enter your email address, date of birth and then create a password. You will then need to verify your account via a link which will be sent to your email.

So once I create an account and verify it, I can book my NERS sessions online?

Yes! You will need to select the centre you wish to attend and then select the session you wish. This will then go into your basket where you pay for it online too.

What can I expect when I come to the centre?

As always our staff will be very friendly and welcoming. You will meet our reception team first, they will ask you for your name and the session you are attending. Once they get you checked in you will then be greeted by your NERS consultant who will take you through your session

Are there one way systems in the centres?

Our reception area, changing rooms and gym entries are all operated under a one way system. These are clearly signed, with arrows and tensa barriers, to help guide you through the centre. However, please don’t worry – if you need any assistance you can always ask any Freedom Leisure staff and they will be happy to help.

What procedures are in place in the gyms to prevent the spread of Covid-19?

In accordance to Welsh Government recommendations we have spaced our equipment 2m apart, have sanitising stations throughout our gym and we ventilated the gyms too. Our staff are always on hand to clean equipment, as well as reminding gym users to clean their equipment but our members have been amazing at cleaning equipment.

Do I need to do track and trace when I am at the centres?

We check you in at reception and digitally capture your details. Track and trace will then contact the centre if there are any concerns and we will pass on your details to them.

Do I need to wear a mask when I am at site?

As per Government guidance, you will need to wear a mask when you are walking around the centre but you are not required to wear a mask when you are training.

If you are exempt for wearing a mask you do not need to wear one.

how much do I pay for my NERS sessions?

Whilst you are on the National Exercise Referral Scheme your sessions will cost £2. You will be able to take part in the NERS specific sessions with your NERS leader.
