We encourage all people in Brighton & Hove, regardless of ability to age well. As a nation we have an ageing population- Whilst this is a positive outcome from improved health care and standards of living, our ageing populations are also costing our services millions of pounds due to inactivity.
Of the 278,112 people living in Brighton and Hove, 13.4% of the population (37,193) are aged over 65 years and older. 51.9% of adults over 65 have a limiting long term condition. Only 25% of over 65s take part in regular activity which is similar to the national average.
We provide a wide range of programmes to encourage active ageing in Brighton & Hove including Walking Football, dedicated 50+ sessions including racket sports, Water Activities for reluctant swimmers, accessible Exercise to Music classes and seated sports activities.
