Sport and participation in sport still remains an important part of our culture. Working towards Sport England’s 5 outcomes, across the Derbyshire Dales, we want to contribute to their national target of getting ‘half a million people more active’ by 2020.
we have a number of sports clubs based in our leisure centres in the Derbyshire Dales, catering for young people, adults and older adults across a number of sports.

We offer Badminton at Arc Leisure Matlock, Ashbourne Leisure Centre with Connected members being able to play for free off-peak. We also host Ashbourne Badminton Club, Darley Dale Badminton Club (Arc), and Wirksworth Badminton Club.
Freedom Leisure Talented Athlete Scheme (FLTASS)
We are very proud to offer talented athletes who live or play for a club in the Derbyshire Dales free access to train at our leisure centres. To qualify for the this scheme athletes must meet the following criteria:
- Be competing for Great Britian in one of Sport England's recognised sports.
- Be a current member of a National training squad at the date of application and have competed in competitions for their country in the last 12 months.
- Reside in the Derbyshire Dales District or their club must be based at a Freedom Leisure operated Centre in the District.
- Be aged between14-25 yrs old (exceptional candidates outside of this range can still be considered but priority will be given to this emerging talent age group)
