Sarah Thake - Learning and Development Manager

Sarah has worked in the leisure industry for 15 years, starting out as an Assistant Swimming teacher and Recreation Assistant at one of our leisure centres. Through her love of learning and self-developing she attended many courses and gained lots of experience in leisure centre roles, finally making the move to become a trainer assessor. Sarah delivered many courses for Freedom Leisure from; First Aid to Personal Training. She also successfully guided apprentices through their learning journey. She now works as the Learning and Development manager, ensuring the training team provide our students with a great environment to learn.

Rebecca Cook - Assistant Work Based Learning Manager

Rebecca has worked in the leisure industry for nearly 21 years and has experience in both operations and training.  She is a qualified assessor and IQA and since starting work as an assessor with Freedom Leisure Training in 2012, has progressed from being Work Based Learning Co-ordinator to Work Based Learning Manager. Rebecca is instrumental in apprenticeship delivery and is passionate about the apprenticeship programme within Freedom Leisure. 

Kathy Bawcombe- Fitness Tutor & Assessor

Kathy has been part of the training team at Freedom Leisure for 3 years. She brings with her over 16 years of experience working within the fitness industry. Kathy currently delivers a variety of fitness courses such as Level 2 Gym Instructor, Level 2 Group Exercise Instructor, Level 3 Diploma In Personal Training, Level 3 Diploma In Exercise Referral, Level 3 Pre & Post Natal Instructor and many other CPD Level 2 Awards such as Kettlebells, Suspension Training, Indoor Group Cycling, Circuits and Adapting Fitness For Adolescents. She is currently continuing her own personal development by training to be an Internal Quality Assurer for Fitness and First Aid Courses.

Ian Cooper - Internal Quality Assurer

Ian has a keen interest in training, staff development and mentoring employees to realise their potential. Ian qualified as an Assessor in 2009 and an Internal Quality Assurer two years later.  With an MA in Sociology of Sport and a BA (hons) in Recreation Management, over twenty years’ experience in the leisure industry and having worked for different training providers, Ian is now heavily involved in the Work Based Learning Programme as an Assessor and Lead IQA. He keeps his knowledge on the latest industry trends up to date by combining this with an operational role at Freedom Leisure.

Danielle Lloyd - AET & Assessor Tutor

Danielle is a highly qualified and experienced teacher.  She has been teaching for over 25 years and is passionate about supporting and developing her students.  She teaches our courses in; Level 3 Award in Education and Training, the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement and the Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice. 

Keith Welch - Trainer Assessor South East

Keith has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the leisure industry. Since starting as a lifeguard in 1988, Keith’s career forged into teaching and passing on his knowledge and skills to others. Keith delivers courses for Freedom Leisure in Pool Plant operations, First Aid and national pool lifeguard qualifications. In his spare time Keith volunteers as an emergency responder for the local community.

Tony Allsop - Trainer Assessor, Wales and West

Working in the Leisure Industry since 1992, Tony has been General Manager and Contract Manager for various outdoor and indoor facilities working for Private, Educational and Local Authority leisure providers and the value of knowledge he brings to the team is extensive. Tony currently delivers courses for Freedom Leisure in First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), National Pool Lifeguard, National Pool Lifeguard Trainer/Assessor, Pool Plant Operator and other Royal Life Saving Society Qualifications.
