Help others improve their health and fitness with a rewarding job as a fitness instructor. As Leisure Centre operators, our courses are run by experts to create experts
To work in a fitness facility, good operators and managers will insist you are qualified and recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS), and CIMSPA. While Level 1 qualifications exist, the standard entry level into the profession is Level 2. At Level 2 you will be qualified to supervise and instruct customers.
With an Active IQ Level 2 Fitness Instruction qualification you can work in a gym unsupervised and set customers’ fitness programmes. An Active IQLevel 2 Exercise to Music qualification will enable you to lead studio classes and with an Active IQ Level 2 Water Based qualification enabling you to lead Aquafit classes.
It is worth noting that these three qualifications have recently been standardised, meaning there are now common elements (for example anatomy and physiology). As a result credits you gain doing one course can be used towards another, so while the Level 2 Gym Instructor course remains the most popular, it is now easier than ever to be multi-disciplined greatly increasing your employability.
These three popular fitness qualifications are not all we offer, discover other courses below.
I’ve worked within the fitness industry for 15 years and can honestly say that I’m still in love with fitness. This industry is constantly growing and never goes out of fashion. My knowledge, skills and experience are always being developed and you can never ever learn enough. There are so many opportunities and pathways within fitness that you can go choose. To be a great instructor you need passion, you need empathy, and you need to always keep learning and most importantly excellent communication skills. If you want to help people and encourage them to live a healthier active life then this may be the place for you.Kathy Brown, Fitness Tutor
