Defibrillator Training

course details

The First Aid Awards Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support & Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator course is covered over 4 hours. It will teach you the skills required to operate an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and provide you with the confidence to deal with this emergency situation. The course does not require you to have any previous first aid knowledge and is suitable for anyone wanting to know how to use an AED and improve their first aid skills.

Training on site

This course is delivered as an on-site course only.  We will visit your chosen venue, to deliver the training, giving you the flexibility to book on days and at times that suit you.

To deliver this course anywhere in Sussex, for a maximum of 6 people, the price is £250 plus £8 per person (VAT not applicable).  Additional costs may be added for courses run outside Sussex.

The cost is fully inclusive of trainer, manuals and certificates, but does not include venue hire or refreshments.  Please note that the venue must be suitable for the course (please contact us for advice if you are uncertain).

Syllabus, assessment, certification and re-certification


Responsibilities and reporting. Assessment of the situation. Dealing with an unresponsive casualty. Infection control. Resuscitation. AED functions. Defibrillation procedures. Safety measures.



Assessment is based on practical and oral assessment throughout the course and successful completion of a written test at the end of the course.



Certificates of qualification last for 3 years. To renew the qualification after 3 years, they will need to retake the full course.
