group exercise at Gwyn Evans

All the instructors are qualified to a minimum level 2 certificate in all the activities that are on offer. The facility has an ambient air temperature which provides the ideal environment to exercise in.

I love teaching group exercise, it's such a motivational atmosphere. It's great to see the participants pushing themselves and each other to reach new goals. You really do get a sense of family and being in it together. Together we are stronger!

national exercise referral scheme (ners)

The National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS) is a Welsh Government (WG) funded scheme which has been in development since 2006 to standardize exercise referral opportunities across all local authorities and Local Health Boards in Wales.

The Scheme is funded by Welsh Government and working in partnership with the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA), local authorities, Public Health Wales (PHW) and Local Health Boards. It targets clients who are at risk of developing chronic disease, providing an opportunity for referrals to access a high quality supervised exercise program to improved health and wellbeing.

Coordinated locally by Wrexham County Borough Council and aimed at those over 16 years of age, who are not used to being regularly physically active and have a medical condition, the Scheme is designed to provide opportunities to exercise that are fun, rewarding and that can be incorporated into everyday life.

Clients are referred by a GP or Health Practitioner so if you think you would benefit from joining this scheme please speak to your GP or visit www.wrexham.gov.uk/ners

The potential benefits of physical activity to health are huge. If a medication existed which had a similar effect, it would be regarded as a ‘wonder drug’ or ‘miracle cure’
