Significant investments are being made at Cefn Hengoed
Swansea Council has been successful in its application to Welsh Government for funding under the Community Learning Centres and Community Hubs Capital Grant Programme to benefit facilities at Cefn Hengoed Community School and Leisure Centre. The grant will enable significant capital investment to facilitate the community use of the school site, and the project presents an ideal opportunity to develop the sports and community facilities to benefit the local community and the school, with the potential to bring together a range of services and facilities. These include a new indoor 3G pitch, fitness suite / studio, cafe and flexible spaces. These will all be available to the school, leisure centre users and the wider community.
The Council, in partnership with the school, Freedom Leisure, the Football Foundation, Swansea City Community Trust and other partners are working closely to secure match funding for this exciting multi-million pound scheme.
We have engaged the local community over the summer and overall the response has been very positive and our plans of starting in 2020 are progressing nicely. We will be releasing more information and plans shortly so make sure you follow us on Facebook for the latest developments.
In partnership with Swansea Council we have been working hard behind the scenes to make improvements across all the Swansea sites and to bring our £5.1million investment plans to fruition, check out what else is happening accross Swansea here.
