How do I get started in the gym?

All gym users are entitled to an introductory orientation with a qualified fitness instructor to guide you through the equipment and ensure that we can tailor your workout to achieve your goals and aspirations whether they want to get fit or fitter, to lose weight or tone up or you are training to be better at your chosen sport.

We can help you every step of the way and Builth Wells has everything for your whether you are a first time gym goer or you’re an experienced athlete.

Comprehensively equipped fitness suite incorporating Cardio-vascular exercise machines Inc. bikes, treadmills, cross trainers, rowers & a Ski-Erg.

there are 9 fixed weight resistance stations plus a selection of hand weights, Swiss ball etc.A number of stations are wheelchair friendly and can be adjusted to accommodate wheelchairs.

Theres a separate Free weights Room with Power Rack, Bench Press and a large selection of Dumbbells and Barbells.

All of the strength training machines in the fitness suite have the IFI (Inclusive Fitness Initiative) mark on them. The mark is given to the machines that are accessible to all.The IFI operate an accreditation scheme which recognises the achievements and commitment of leisure facilities who enable disabled people to become physically active. The accreditation provides and INCLUSIVE platform for disabled and non-disabled people to be active together.


All the fitness equipment carries the above mark which makes the fitness suite here at Builth Wells accessible to all.

Builth Wells Sports Centre has a variety of fitness classes, including Pure Stretch, Spinning, Spin & Sculpt, Insanity, Step Plus, p90x, Aqua Aerobics, Circuit Training, Virtual Spinning.

Although the Sports centre and the high school are still attached, it has been developed in such a way that during the times of sports centre access the school are unable to do so.

 All the instructors are qualified to a minimum level 2 certificate in all the activities that are on offer. The new facility has an ambient air temperature which provides the ideal environment to exercise in.
