Designed to support children to focused on encouraging positive wellbeing and building resilience, the event featured team-building challenges, athletics, short tennis and soft archery, giving pupils the opportunity to develop confidence, make new connections and learn valuable skills for the future. This event successfully brought together Year 5 pupils from local schools at Withdean Sports Complex for a day.

Withdeam Sports Complex in Brighton, recently welcomed over 100 junior school children who spent the day at Withdean engaging in a series of workshops and planned activities hosted by Freedom Leisure coaches and other colleagues. Naturally these centred around physical activities with assorted sessions on tennis practice, multi-sport games and challenges as well as more holistic sessions to highlight the need to look after your mental health as well as your physical wellbeing.

A highlight of the day was hearing from inspirational guest speakers including paralympic swimmer and silver medallist at Paris 2024 - Callie-Ann Warrington and Elliot Levi Giles World Record holder for the road 1 mile. These two inspiring athletes shared their personal journeys and encouraged the young students to believe in themselves, overcome challenges and embrace new opportunities.

The event showcased the power of schools, community partnerships and sporting role models working together to help young people develop the confidence and resilience needed for a bright future.

It was fantastic to see so many young people engaging with the activities and embracing the important messages around resilience, confidence and wellbeing. We are grateful to Callie-Ann Warrington and Elliot Levi Giles for inspiring our students and helping make the day such a memorable success.
