Freedom Leisure, the award-winning not-for-profit leisure trust that manages the leisure centre’s in Ashford and Tenterden on behalf of Ashford Borough Council, celebrated the ‘unsung heroes’ from these towns at the recent Ashford Hero Awards, a truly inspiring evening, dedicated to recognising the individuals and groups who go above and beyond to support their communities.

Hosted at Freedom Leisure’s Stour Centre in Ashford, the awards evening brought together residents, organisations, volunteers and local leaders to shine a spotlight on the everyday heroes whose kindness, dedication and commitment make Ashford and Tenterden better places to live.

The Ashford Hero Awards, the brainchild of Freedom Leisure’s Emily Phillips, honours a wide range of local people, from community volunteers and carers to fundraisers, mentors and those who quietly support others behind the scenes. Each nominee was recognised for the positive impact they have made, often without seeking recognition.

The Ashford Hero Awards are about saying thank you. They recognise people who step up, care about others and make a difference every day. The stories we heard tonight show just how strong, kind and generous our community really is.
