Freedom Leisure, which began operating in Wealden 25 years ago and continues to manage Hailsham, Crowborough and Uckfield Leisure Centres on behalf of Wealden District Council, has announced a new partnership with HealthHero to provide qualifying members with same-day remote GP access from 2 March 2026.
The not-for-profit leisure trust has announced that the service will be embedded in qualifying Freedom Leisure memberships including its award-winning GP referral membership and covers not only the member, but also their dependants.
We are delighted to be launching our partnership with HealthHero in Wealden, where it all began for Wealden Leisure Limited, known to customers as Freedom Leisure, 25 years ago. Supporting our members and their families with easily accessible medical support, whenever they need it, is absolutely what we should be providing for our customers. As a not-for-profit leisure trust, we are able to continually reinvest in our services and our partnership with HealthHero bringing enhanced access to healthcare, is a great example of this reinvestment.

Members will be able to access same day GP appointments for themselves and their children from 8am - 10pm, 364 days a year. The service also caters for personal preference, allowing members to select phone or video consultations, as well as the gender of the GP.
Freedom Leisure’s bold approach to integrating healthcare benefits will undoubtedly pay dividends as members get the chance to experience a different way of accessing GP care. Instant booking, same day appointments at a chosen time, unhurried consultations and electronic prescription delivery are just some of the ways HealthHero is able to raise the game. With GP waiting times still in excess of 14 days, we look forward to making Freedom Leisure members' lives a little easier.
