With the weather turning colder with snow and ice making an appearance, we believe it is important to teach the children about Winter Water Safety. The Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) run this campaign every year to teach children and adults about the dangers of being around open water during the winter months.
The Water Safety Code being:
- Stop and Think
- Stage Together
- In an Emergency – Call 999 and do not enter the water
- In an Emergency – Float on your back and call for help
During our swimming lessons, children will be working on the Swim England Water Safety awards. This means children in Stage 5 & 6 need to bring light clothing (shorts & t-shirt) and children in Stage 7 and above will need to bring full length clothing (trousers/long sleeved top) to swim in.
After the lessons, the swimming teachers will let you or your child know which badge they achieved so you can purchase it at reception.
