This April we partnered with Welsh Coast Radio & Action for Elders to Deliver Over 900 Easter Eggs Across Swansea Bay Health Board, Care Homes & Nursing Homes to deliver the most successful Easter Egg Appeal to date — delivering over 900 Easter eggs and 80 jigsaws to patients across Swansea Bay University Health Board, as well as residents in care homes and nursing homes throughout the region.

Across a four‑day tour, the Easter Bunny visited hospitals, wards, community settings, and residential care facilities, shaking hands with more than 1,200 people and bringing moments of joy to those who needed it most.

This year’s appeal expanded further than ever before, ensuring that older adults, long‑term residents, and those in nursing care were included in the Easter celebrations. Staff across multiple care homes described the visits as “uplifting”, “deeply appreciated”, and “a moment of pure happiness for residents who rarely receive visitors”.

Residents and patients shared heartfelt reactions that captured the emotional impact of the appeal:

“You’ve made my day.”

“I’ve never had an Easter egg before.”

“This is the happiest I’ve been for a long time.”

“You’re incredible. Thank you for giving up your time to make so many people happy.”

“This is the happiest I’ve ever seen her — thank you.”

These moments reflect the profound value of community connection, especially for older adults and those living in long‑term care.

Donation points across our Centres were filled repeatedly, thanks to the generosity of members, listeners, and local residents. Volunteers worked tirelessly to sort, pack, and deliver gifts to every hospital ward, care home, and nursing home on the route.

The Easter Bunny’s arrival brought smiles, laughter, and emotional moments to residents, families, and frontline staff.  Many described the visit as a “boost in morale” and “a moment of magic” during an otherwise difficult time.

Welsh Coast Radio said: “This appeal shows what happens when a community comes together with kindness at its core. Every egg, every jigsaw, every smile — it all mattered.”

Freedom Leisure Swansea added: “Our members and staff went above and beyond. We’re proud to support an initiative that brings joy to so many across hospitals and care homes.”

Action for Elders commented:  “Moments like these remind older adults that they are seen, valued, and never forgotten.”

The 2026 Easter Egg Appeal stands as a testament to Swansea’s generosity, compassion, and community spirit. Plans are already underway to make next year’s appeal even bigger — ensuring that no patient, resident, or older adult spends Easter without a moment of joy.
