About Izaak Walton's Cottage

Once owned by the renowned author of “The Complete Angler”, Izaac Walton, the cottage is a grade II listed, 17th Century timber framed building in Shallowford, not far from the M6. It is now a museum offering the visitor a glimpse at life in the 17th century as well as a comprehensive fishing collection from the period. Visitors may want to simply sit in the grounds or visit our reading room and second-hand book library where you can follow Izaacs advice of “Study to be Quiet” The site also has tea and coffee available as well as toilet facilities including an ambulant toilet. With picnic benches provided you are welcome to bring your own picnic, It makes a perfect stop if your travelling along the M6 too.
