Ava

Ava

Ava competes in Modern Pentathlon, a sport she discovered through her PE teacher who was a World Champion and Olympian. Already involved in swimming and running, she later took up shooting, fencing, and OCR, the new fifth discipline replacing showjumping in the 2028 Olympics. Currently ranked 3rd in the UK under-17s, her proudest achievement is being selected for the Pentathlon GB Talent Performance Pathway. She’s inspired by Olympian Kerenza Bryson, who balances elite sport with a medical and military career. Ava hopes to join the Senior World Class Programme and study at Bath University, with her sights set on the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. Being part of FLAIR means a great deal to her, as access to Freedom Leisure gyms supports her strength and conditioning across all five sports.

Hermione

Hermione

Hermione competes in Triathle, Biathle, laser run, and the full Modern Pentathlon, having started after discovering a laser shooting club in Year 5 and combining it with her love for swimming and running. Currently ranked 5th nationally, she has proudly represented Pentathlon GB at international competitions, finishing 9th in the world at the 2024 Laser Run World Championships in China and winning a team bronze in Triathle at the World Championships in Egypt. Inspired by Olympic gold medallist Kate French, Hermione dreams of one day competing at the Olympics herself, ideally in the new LA stadium. She advises young athletes to keep going even when things go wrong, and sees FLAIR as a vital support for her training, giving her access to essential facilities close to home.

William

William

William competes in Modern Pentathlon, including laser run, Biathle, Triathle, fencing and OCR. He began with Biathlons in Year 5 and joined his school’s Pentathlon club in Year 6, where he learned to shoot with a laser gun. He’s currently ranked 8th nationally in Triathle and 12th in both laser run and Biathle. His proudest achievement so far is representing GB and winning a team bronze at the 2024 World Championships in Egypt. Inspired by his coach Bill Bland and Olympic champion Jo Choong, William hopes to represent GB in future European and World Championships. He dreams of competing in South Africa and on the Pentathlon World Cup circuit. Being part of FLAIR means a lot to him, as it provides access to local facilities that help him balance training with his busy schedule.

Elise

Elise

Elise has been swimming since she was eight weeks old, progressing through learn to swim classes before joining a competitive club after Covid because she loved being in the water. She is currently ranked 2nd in Great Britain for the 800m freestyle short course and 6th in the long course for her age group, with top 8 rankings in several backstroke and middle-distance freestyle events. Her proudest achievements include winning the South East Regional Championships in 2024 and 2025, and qualifying early for the National Championships. Inspired by top British swimmers and major events like the Olympics, she aims to compete and win against the best in the country within five years. She believes mindset and self-belief are crucial for success. She hopes to compete internationally in Australia or the USA and train somewhere warm with an outdoor pool. Being part of FLAIR helps with training costs, and she trains regularly at the Stour Centre before school and uses the gym weekly.

Maria

Maria

Maria is a dedicated time trial cyclist competing in 10, 25, 30 and 50 mile events. She first got involved through her now husband, who encouraged her to give it a go after she began road cycling. Her first 10-mile race took just over 31 minutes, but she quickly became motivated by the personal challenge and has since brought her time down to under 22 minutes. Since starting in 2020, she has already achieved seven women’s club records and is currently ranked 30th female nationally and 14th under 40, with hopes of moving higher once her latest results are added. Inspired by Alex Clay, Maria is aiming to compete at the highest level and would love to one day match or beat her. She also hopes to race in the Netherlands, drawn to its strong cycling culture and safe infrastructure. Being part of FLAIR allows her to access a local gym for strength training, which supports her progress and keeps her pushing forward.

Tom

Tom

Tom competes in Aqua Bike racing, Masters Swimming, and bike Time Trials. He started Masters Swimming with Hythe Swimming Club and added cycling after a shoulder injury, which led him to Aqua Bike events. He is currently ranked number 5 nationally in the 1500 metres long course swim. Tom holds Kent records for the 1500 metres swim and 15-mile cycle time trial in his age group. His proudest moment was finishing seventh at the European Aqua Bike Championships in Portugal, representing Team GB just two years after his first event. He believes age is no barrier to chasing goals and advises others to aim high and adjust targets as needed. Tom hopes to keep competing and aims for a podium finish in Aqua Bike or a Veterans national cycling title. He is also aiming to compete for Team GB in Abu Dhabi in 2026. Being a FLAIR member will help him reach his international goals and inspire others to stay active.

Paula

Paula

Paula is proudly representing England at the British Isles Championships in short-mat bowls, taking place in Belfast on 17th & 18th January 2026. She first discovered the sport after looking round a local gym and seeing it being played in the hall. As a member of the England Ladies team, Paula’s dedication and achievements are a true inspiration. She draws motivation not only from top players across the globe but also from bowlers competing into their 90s, those adapting techniques for physical disabilities, and family teams spanning three generations. With the support of the FLAIR scheme, Paula can maintain the physical and mental fitness needed for top-level competitions, often lasting over 12 hours, and aims to continue competing internationally while pursuing new challenges in countries such as Norway and Belgium.

Amelie

Amelie

Amelie cannot remember a time without netball. Amelie started playing for Breakaways Netball Club at 8 years old. Now playing for Kent Club Netball Team based in Cobham. Amelie hopes to continue her sporting career by trialling for London Pulse, the main superleagues team for this area. This would allow her to continue her sport in her dream to play for England one day. 

Callie-Ann

Callie-Ann

Callie-Ann made her Paralympic debut in 2024 after a successful European Championships in Madeira earlier in the same year. Lining up at her first Paralympic Games, Callie-Ann claimed silver in the S10 100m butterfly just behind teammate Faye Rogers. Introduced to the water at just 16 weeks old, Callie-Ann's parents encouraged her through learn to swim classes before she joined her first club, Maidstone Swimming Club, when she was seven and hasn't looked back since. Away from the pool, Callie-Ann is a qualified diagnostic radiographer (X-Ray), loves all animals and was once in a panto at the Hazlitt Theatre in Maidstone with Joe Swash's sister.

Catherine

Catherine

Catherine's sport of choice is fencing, which she first discovered at university and quicky fell in love with. One of her proudest moments so far has been representing Great Britain at the Veterans World Championships in Bahrain in November 2025, competing in both the individual and team events. Looking ahead, Catherine hopes to qualify for future Veteran European and World Championships, with the dream of bringing home a medal somewhere along the way. No matter what the future holds, she's committed to staying on the piste whether that's at regional, national or international level. 

Henry

Henry

Henry is a Para Triathlete and current member of the British Triathlon World Class Programme. Henry is currently World Champion in Men's PTS3 Para Triathlon. He is a Paralympian having represented Paralympics GB at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and had also won international medals representing British Triathlon in the European Championships, World Para Cups and World Para Series. Henry was born with a left hemiplegia, however this challenged him to overcome barriers and he relishes the chance to showcase his resilience.
