Ava

Ava

Ava competes in Modern Pentathlon, a sport she discovered through her PE teacher who was a World Champion and Olympian. Already involved in swimming and running, she later took up shooting, fencing, and OCR – the new fifth discipline replacing showjumping in the 2028 Olympics. Currently ranked 3rd in the UK under-17s, her proudest achievement is being selected for the Pentathlon GB Talent Performance Pathway. She’s inspired by Olympian Kerenza Bryson, who balances elite sport with a medical and military career. Ava hopes to join the Senior World Class Programme and study at Bath University, with her sights set on the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. Being part of FLAIR means a great deal to her, as access to Freedom Leisure gyms supports her strength and conditioning across all five sports.

Hermione

Hermione

Hermione competes in Triathle, Biathle, laser run, and the full Modern Pentathlon, having started after discovering a laser shooting club in Year 5 and combining it with her love for swimming and running. Currently ranked 5th nationally, she has proudly represented Pentathlon GB at international competitions, finishing 9th in the world at the 2024 Laser Run World Championships in China and winning a team bronze in Triathle at the World Championships in Egypt. Inspired by Olympic gold medallist Kate French, Hermione dreams of one day competing at the Olympics herself, ideally in the new LA stadium. She advises young athletes to keep going even when things go wrong, and sees FLAIR as a vital support for her training, giving her access to essential facilities close to home.

William

William

William competes in Modern Pentathlon, including laser run, Biathle, Triathle, fencing and OCR. He began with Biathlons in Year 5 and joined his school’s Pentathlon club in Year 6, where he learned to shoot with a laser gun. He’s currently ranked 8th nationally in Triathle and 12th in both laser run and Biathle. His proudest achievement so far is representing GB and winning a team bronze at the 2024 World Championships in Egypt. Inspired by his coach Bill Bland and Olympic champion Jo Choong, William hopes to represent GB in future European and World Championships. He dreams of competing in South Africa and on the Pentathlon World Cup circuit. Being part of FLAIR means a lot to him, as it provides access to local facilities that help him balance training with his busy schedule.

Elise

Elise

Elise has been swimming since she was eight weeks old, progressing through learn to swim classes before joining a competitive club after Covid because she loved being in the water. She is currently ranked 2nd in Great Britain for the 800m freestyle short course and 6th in the long course for her age group, with top 8 rankings in several backstroke and middle-distance freestyle events. Her proudest achievements include winning the South East Regional Championships in 2024 and 2025, and qualifying early for the National Championships. Inspired by top British swimmers and major events like the Olympics, she aims to compete and win against the best in the country within five years. She believes mindset and self-belief are crucial for success. She hopes to compete internationally in Australia or the USA and train somewhere warm with an outdoor pool. Being part of FLAIR helps with training costs, and she trains regularly at the Stour Centre before school and uses the gym weekly.
