These sessions in the pool are ideal for those registered disabled, people living with long term health conditions and people recovering from surgery/illness. It is self led activity in the pool, whether you walk, swim or do simple exercises. A swim teacher is pool side and our GP referral gym staff pop down most weeks to have a chat and give some tips on movements in the water.

The group stay for a cuppa and a chat afterwards most weeks.

Thursdays 10-11am at Stone Leisure Centre

Fridays 9:30-10:30am at Stafford Leisure Centre

£4 per person, Stafford & Stone Gym/swim members & carers enter for free too.

Please note, if you are currently under the care of a medical professional, please ensure that they have approved you to take part in exercise before attending.

The group has become one of the centre’s most popular sessions, supporting people recovering from surgery, managing long-term health conditions or living with lifelong diagnoses. Combining gentle exercise with vital social interaction with others, the welcoming and inclusive group continues to help members regain mobility, build confidence and improve their overall wellbeing.

Delivered by Freedom Leisure’s Healthy Communities team in Stafford, along with a handful of volunteers from the group, the sessions have been widely praised for their positive atmosphere and the life-changing benefits experienced by participants. The recognition from BBC Radio Stoke highlights not only the success of the programme but also the dedication of the team delivering it.
