what is new in the gym?

Jigsaw Stretch Area Flooring - The new flooring is shock absorbing, so when performing impact or functional movements, the flooring will help users to avoid injury. The new flooring utilises the floor space for multiple gym users.

Extended Free Weights area - The free weights area has been extended at the far side of the gym, this has allowed us to add more new benches, the new dumb bells range from 2kg up to 50kg.

IFI Technogym equipment- An IFI equipment has been added to our CV equipment and resistance departments

We're so proud of our gym at Waterworld. It has all the very latest equipment and will be a great asset to the people of Wrexham.

national exercise referral scheme (ners)

The potential benefits of physical activity to health are huge. If a medication existed which had a similar effect, it would be regarded as a ‘wonder drug’ or ‘miracle cure

Professor Sir Liam Donaldson

The National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS) is a Welsh Government (WG) funded scheme which has been in development since 2006 to standardize exercise referral opportunities across all local authorities and Local Health Boards in Wales.

The Scheme is funded by Welsh Government and working in partnership with the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA), local authorities, Public Health Wales (PHW) and Local Health Boards. It targets clients who are at risk of developing chronic disease, providing an opportunity for referrals to access a high quality supervised exercise program to improved health and wellbeing.

Coordinated locally by Wrexham County Borough Council and aimed at those over 16 years of age, who are not used to being regularly physically active and have a medical condition, the Scheme is designed to provide opportunities to exercise that are fun, rewarding and that can be incorporated into everyday life.

Clients are referred by a GP or Health Practitioner so if you think you would benefit from joining this scheme please speak to your GP or visit
