Our gym at Withdean has a range of equipment and training spaces to accommodate pretty much all exercise and health needs. There is something for everyone regardless of age, size or ability; we recognise that health and exercise go hand in hand with everyday life whatever your goals. I want to improve myself, How do I start?
How about a three day pass? – you can buy a three day pass for £15. This pass allows a three day gym membership so you find out just how well our gym will work for you.
Join as a member: As a member you’ll be able to access much more than the gym. We have nearly 120 taught exercise classes; virtual classes, sports facilities and racket sports. In addition you can use the pools and a range of other activities at the 6 other freedom leisure centres in Brighton and Hove.
As well as being great value for money, one of the best things about a membership is our freedom journey. You will get 5 free one to one sessions with one of our gym team to help you get started or support and develop your existing training programme. Plus you can book in for a programme update to get some new exercises or try out a new training challenge all for no extra charge.
Membership is not for me: No problem. We are a community facility, not a member only club. If you prefer to Pay as you Go you will still need an activation session and then each session is payable at reception. This is option is best for people visiting once a week or less or who are not ready to commit straightaway.
What will I need to get started at Withdean?
Please ensure you bring with you a comfortable change of clothes and footwear suitable for indoor exercise. Ideally layered t-shirt and jumper, shorts; leggings or tracksuit bottoms; flat soled trainers or shoes; and a small sweat towel would be perfect.
If you forget anything or simply don’t have anything don’t worry we stock a range of well-priced exercise clothing including water bottles; sweat bands and workout gloves.
If you’re using our changing rooms please note the lockers operate with a “bring your own padlock” to secure items. Any small combination or key padlock will work. We Have padlocks for sale at reception so please ask if needed
Junior / Youth gym exercise
At Withdean we want young people to enjoy exercise and develop healthy habits for the future. It can be the best stressbuster for studies and exam time; helps co-ordination and motor skills for the growing junior; increases self-esteem and young people can have fun training together.
We run junior / youth activation sessions daily. On weekdays we run them afterschool before 5pm and at weekends.
For 14-16’s once they have done an activation session they can use the gym between the following times un-supervised. – add the times
For 16-18’s we offer unrestricted access but we will still ask for parent / guardian consent before they start.
For under 14s – check what age this refers to we want to ensure exercise in our gym is safe and effective so we offer supervised sessions at 4:15pm weekdays? These are bookable.
