What equipment do you need to play squash?
You don’t need a lot of equipment to play squash - just a racquet and a squash ball! If you are a beginner, you should use black squash balls with blue dot marking - these balls are bouncier than other types of squash ball, making them perfect for people who are new to the game. You can purchase these on site!

Frequently Asked Questions
A 40 minute court booking costs £8.45 for non members with discounted rates available to members. If you are new to Brighton Squash Club, your first open session will cost just £5.
Squash and racketball (not to be confused with racquetball) are very similar and both sports can be played on a regular squash court. The main difference is racketball is played with shorter racquets and a larger, bouncier ball. Rallies tend to last longer in racketball as the ball moves more slowly, allowing more time to react and return.
It isn’t possible to play squash alone but it is a great way to practise and develop technical skills. Don’t worry if you can’t find a squash partner. If you attend one of our open sessions we’ll match you up with someone of a similar ability.
