Inspiring Stories and Student Engagement

Inspiring Stories and Student Engagement

The event connected students with Olympic and Paralympic athletes who shared personal stories of resilience, helping to inspire and open conversations about mental wellbeing. The event engaged approximately 400 students across two dates, with workshops structured in smaller groups to ensure intimate and interactive sessions.

Today was a powerful reminder of how much potential each young person holds. If they continue to support each other and develop a positive mindset, there’s nothing they cannot achieve. I’m proud of being at this event and being part of the student’s journey.

Media Coverage and Positive Feedback

Media Coverage and Positive Feedback

The event received media coverage from BBC Radio Kent, Radio Ashford, and BBC South East Today. Feedback from participants highlighted the positive impact, with students reporting that they now feel more comfortable discussing mental health and have a better understanding of related issues. One student commented, “The athletes showed me that no matter what happens in life, there is always a way forwards if you keep pushing.”

Being part of the Strength in Mind event was an inspiring experience. Seeing the students engage so openly in mental health discussions was powerful, and it reminded me how important it is to start these conversations early. I feel proud to have been part of an event that left a positive impact on so many young people.

Project Outcomes and Impact

Project Outcomes and Impact

Results from the project were impressive: 89% of students said they would feel comfortable talking to someone about their mental health, 94% reported a better understanding of mental health issues, and all participating schools expressed interest in future events.

Seeing the students challenge themselves and work together was inspiring. Sport taught me resilience, and I hope they carry the same lessons with them. It’s more than just a game - it’s a way to face life’s obstacles head-on.
