Tenterden Leisure Centre was proud to host the grand finale of BBC South East’s remarkable 1,000-mile swim challenge for Children in Need. While the swim itself took place across various pools in the region, the final moments of this inspiring week-long effort were filmed on Friday 15th November at our very own poolside.
BBC South East presenters came together to achieve the staggering goal of collectively swimming 1,000 miles in one week. With 64.5 lengths of our pool equaling one mile, the challenge required dedication, stamina, and teamwork to complete.
The finale at Tenterden featured local children currently participating in swimming lessons at our centre, creating a heartwarming and symbolic close to the event. These young swimmers represent the positive impact initiatives like Children in Need have on communities, inspiring future generations to thrive.
Although Tenterden was the filming location rather than a swim site, we are immensely proud to have been part of this momentous occasion, helping to spotlight the incredible efforts of the BBC presenters and the cause they championed.
Freedom Leisure and Tenterden Leisure Centre extend their thanks to the BBC team and everyone who supported this challenge, helping to raise vital funds for children and families across the UK.
Let’s continue to make waves for good causes!
