At Tandridge Leisure Centre we aim to provide the best swimming lessons in the area, with well-structured, rewarding, affordable and fun lessons for all ages and abilities. Our swimming lessons run for 50 weeks of the year, and are paid for via a monthly direct debit. (please note our adult and child and pre school classes are termtime only, for via a monthly direct debit), and all our instructors are qualified and have undergone an enhanced DBS check. Swim School members are entitled to FREE unlimited swimming (subject to programme) at the centre where they have their lessons.

Our goal is to teach your baby to swim and learn how to be safe around the water, using play and song. Learning to swim at an early age reduces chances of children developing a fear of the water. Please note: a parent/guardian must be in the water at all times.

This class is suitable for children aged 3 years plus who are quite nervous of the water and have no previous swimming experience.

This class is suitable for children who are quite confident in the water and have some swimming experience.
Takes place in the shallow end of the fitness pool. Child must be able to stand in shallow end 0.9m.

Non Swimmers
These lesson's takes place in the shallow end of the lagoon pool, with the instructor in the water - keeping to social distancing regulations and wearing a visor. These classes are suitable for children aged from 3.5 years who have no swimming experience.

Stage 1 (4yrs+)
This class will introduce and improve the three main swimming strokes. Pupils will also learn new water skills such as floating, basic safety awareness, water confidence and swimming underwater. (children must be able to stand in 0.9m.)

Specialist swimming lessons for those with a disability or learning difficulty. Lessons are 20min and are taught on a one to three basis.

Challenge bronze (6yrs+)
This class is suitable for children who are capable of swimming at least 25 metres. Pupils will improve their stamina and stroke technique.Pupils will work on the four swimming strokes and improve their breathing techniques.

Silver challenge
This one hour session is for children who are able to swim at least 400 metres competently. Pupils will progress their stamina whilst maintaining their stroke techniques. Pupils will develop a higher level of water skills, including tumble turns.

Gold challenge

These classes are designed for those swimmers who want to continue with their swimming to maintain their stamina and swimming technique.

Survive & save (10yrs+)
Classes are for those who want to further their knowledge of lifesaving. Bronze/Silver is for those who are starting in lifesaving , and then progress to Silver/Gold. The awards teach lifesaving rescue, self-rescue, survival, lifesaving sport skills and also develop swimming ability and fitness. These classes are taught dryside and wet side.

Our adult lessons are designed for pupils aged 16 years and over. If you have never swum before and would like to learn how to swim, or would like to brush up on your strokes, we have a class for you. All classes are taught by qualified instructors who recognise individual needs and will work on them through gentle practise.
