Freedom Leisure were delighted to attend the community health event on Saturday 16th May, helping shine a light on the importance of preventative healthcare.
The event was inspired by Jeremy Schwartz, who founded a free health clinic at Oxted Health Centre in partnership with Cleveland Clinic after experiencing his own heart scare.
Speaking to the BBC, Dr Hill from Oxted Health Clinic highlighted the urgency of the issue, noting that “heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death amongst men in the UK, with around one in eight men dying from coronary heart disease".” He added that many cardiovascular conditions “develop quietly over time, often without obvious symptoms in the early stages.”
The day saw fantastic support from patients and local residents, and we were pleased to meet the community and share the wide range of opportunities available at Tandridge Leisure Centre.
Freedom Leisure continues to work closely with NHS partners to shape activities and programmes at Tandridge Leisure Centre that encourage more people to become active and improve their wellbeing. This includes our GP‑led exercise referral scheme and a variety of healthy community activities offered either free or at low cost.
