Brighton & Hove City Council (BHCC), in partnership with Freedom Leisure, is delighted to announce a major investment in the future of fitness provision at Portslade Sports Centre as part of BHCC’s Sports Facilities Investment Plan. Work will shortly begin on an ambitious expansion and refurbishment project that will almost double the size of the gym, expand and upgrade the toilet facility provision , and Freedom Leisure will contribute to the project with a significant range of brand-new gym equipment, new, upgraded gym flooring plus improvements to the audio-visual experience with upgraded connectivity and sound system.
To allow this exciting transformation to take place, the existing gym will close at 10am on Friday 3rd October.
From Saturday 4th October, members will be able to continue training in a temporary gym space, ensuring their fitness journey is not interrupted while the work is carried out.
The project is expected to take eight weeks, with the brand-new gym scheduled to open on the afternoon of Tuesday 2nd December.
During this period, Portslade members will also enjoy full access to all Freedom Leisure sites across the city, providing maximum flexibility and choice while the improvements are underway.
This expansion represents a significant joint investment in health and wellbeing facilities for the community, providing more space, better equipment, and an improved environment for all members to enjoy.
We thank our members for their patience and understanding during this exciting period of change and look forward to welcoming everyone to the new and improved facilities this December.
