swim academy

Our Swim Academy runs for 50 weeks per annum with students participating in one 25-30minute lesson per week. Lessons are paid monthly by direct debit.

Our Swim Teachers are Level 2 SEQ / STA qualified and we often use Level 1 SEQ / STA qualified Swim Teacher assistants to support early years and larger groups if required. 

We have a very strong relationship with Swim England and regularly review swim standards, processes, procedures and programmes to ensure the very best learning environment and outcomes.

Sauna and steam

Step into our rejuvenating sauna and steam rooms to soothe your aches and pains. With improved circulation, glowing skin and a stronger immune system, you'll leave feeling healthier all over.

Monday - Friday 6.30am - 3.00pm & 6.00pm - 9.30pm
Saturday 7.30am - 5.00pm
Sunday 7.30am - 6.30pm
Please note: the sauna and steam facilities are unavailable for all customers during swimming lessons and any private booking sessions. Closed daily between 3.00pm - 6.00pm.

swim sessions explained

Sessions reserved for those 18yrs+ only.

A low impact aerobics class in our outstanding pools! You’ll be guided through a series of aerobic style exercises by our awesome instructors. Expect to use resistance gloves, noodles and foam dumbbells for an effective full body workout. Suitable for all abilities.

Sessions specifically designed for families only. (A family consists of at least one adult 18yrs+ and one child 17yrs or younger)

FUN TIME SWIM (Pre-booking advised)
These sessions are all about having FUN! Floats, toys, the pools are packed full of things to do. Open to swimmers of all ages and abilities. Please note the following:

  • Pre-booking is advised as sessions are popular
  • All attendees need to book - parents, babies as well as children all count towards the maximum bather capacity
  • All current members will need to book
  • Swim Academy children pay for the session and so do babies
  • Sessions cost: £3.95 for 0-17yrs and £6.75 for 18yrs+

During these times the pool is completely divided into lanes designated specifically to fast, medium and slow swimmers. These sessions are ideal for those wishing to complete a distance swim or use the lengths to improve stroke technique.

Swimmers of all ages are welcome but must be able to swim lengths consistently.

Exclusive hire for Octopush Club only.

Open to swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Private hire of the pool.

Sessions reserved especially for those 65yrs+ only.

During these times we run swimming lessons.

Private hire of the pool by our designated Swim Clubs.

SWIMFIT (Applemore Health and Leisure)
Take part in an instructor led session or follow the session cards available on poolside independently and progress at your own rate.

Gentle sessions ideally suited to customers of all ages who might have a long or short-term disability or are recovering from illness.

Learner Pool (weak and non-swimmers)
One parent (or responsible adult aged 18yrs+) to a maximum of three children aged 4-7yrs.
One parent (or responsible adult aged 18yrs+) to a maximum of two children, if one or more children are under the age of 4yrs.

Designated shallow-end of main pool (weak and non-swimmers)
One parent (or responsible adult aged 18yrs+) to a maximum of two children under 8yrs.
One parent (or responsible adult aged 18yrs+) to a maximum of one child under 8yrs, if the child is not wearing armbands or other suitable floatation aids.

Main pool (swimmers)
One parent (or responsible adult aged 18yrs+) to a maximum of two children under 8yrs.

The centre reserves the right to insist that any children under 8yrs must wear floatation aids if they are considered a weak or non-swimmer.
