King Alfred Leisure Centre has some superb swimming facilities, suitable for both serious swimmers and the whole family to enjoy!
Swimming is a great activity for the whole family to participate in together. With a great flume and fun pool features The whole family will enjoy the time spent together at King Alfred. We also offer a fantastic viewing area to overlook the whole pool for those who don't wish to get wet!
Swimming is a great form of exercise for the whole body. The swimming pool provides a great environment for warming up or cooling down after a strenuous exercise class or gym workout but is also a very effective exercise in its own right. The water provides additional resistance for your muscle groups to work against and supports some of your body weight reducing the strain on your joints.
In our 25m main pool, lane sessions are available throughout the day.
5 day intensive swimming courses teaching swim England ASA pathway stages 1-3. Whether your child is a beginner or can swim up to 10 meters these courses are a great way for children to gain confidence and water skills.

Brighton & Hove residents under the age of 16 can swim for free during public swimming sessions. Children must register at their local site with proof of age and residence. Available Monday - Friday from 3.30pm during state school term time, all day Saturday & Sunday, school holidays (Brighton & Hove state school holidays including inset days) & Bank Holidays. Here at King Alfred Leisure Centre we follow The ASA Learn to Swim Pathway. This means your child will be following a nationally recognised syllabus and awards system produced by swimming’s governing body. Click here for more information.
Are there any time restrictions?
At busy times a band system will be put into operation to limit session to two hours.
Do children need to be accompanied?
All children under 8 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. An adult may only take responsibility for a maximum of two children. Click here for our swimming admissions policy.
