We’d like to make customers aware of a temporary change to our swimming provision at GL1 Leisure Centre.

Due to the current poolside environment at Barton Pool being too hot to operate safely, we have taken the decision to merge all Barton sessions into the Twyver and Elver pools until further notice. This is due to the air handling system struggling to meet the demands of the external temperature, which is affecting poolside conditions during this current heatwave. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and colleagues is our priority and this decision has been taken in their best interests.

We are working hard to minimise disruption and will be accommodating as many sessions as possible within our other two pools. Our timetables have been updated to reflect these changes and we will continue to communicate any further updates as soon as they are confirmed.

Swimming lessons will continue as planned and will be merged into our other pools to accommodate this change. Please speak with a member of our swim team when you arrive to confirm where your lesson will be taking place.

We are actively working to resolve this and an order for the air handling system improvements had already been placed prior to this current heatwave. We are committed to restarting the Barton Pool sessions as soon as we feel the temperature is safe for our customers and colleagues.
