Exciting developments
Leisure centre refurbishment works commenced on Friday 10 May and we are making great progress with several areas of the centre now complete. The full schedule of works is listed below to give an understanding of what will be taking place and when.
During these phases we anticipate some changes to our operational procedures and we will be communicating with our customers throughout the process. To ensure you are fully informed about any changes to our leisure centre, we ask you download the Freedom Leisure app and also follow our social media channels for the latest information.
Improvements to colleague areas - now complete!
Our colleagues play a vital role in ensuring your satisfaction, so we're enhancing their work environment to better serve you.
This phase will include a new ground floor treatment room and first floor colleague area with kitchen too. We are commited to ensuring our colleagues enjoy their jobs and improving these areas will make working for Freedom Leisure a really positive experience.
Changing room upgrades now complete and new pool water features will be completed soon!
Refurbished Wet Side Changing Rooms: Get ready to enjoy upgraded changing facilities for added comfort and convenience. This will include new hand dryers, toilets, sinks, lighting, replacing floor tiles and regrouting floor tiles. Replacement lockers have also been installed.
New Water Play Features: Fun awaits with the addition of exciting water play features to our swimming pool, perfect for families and those young at heart. This brand-new water play area is a fantastic introduction to water play and helps build confidence for children from an early stage.
Spa showers in our health suite: Glass panels will be removed and replaced with brand new cubicles. Wall and floor tiles to be regrouted and replaced where necessary followed by a full deep clean.
New Cycling and Elevate studio - now underway!
This phase will really appeal to the cycling enthusiasts!

State-of-the-Art Cycling Studio: Pedal your way to fitness in our brand-new cycling studio, this will deliver a brilliant indoor cycling experience. We have also now received our delivery of brand new Life Fitness ICG bikes! This means no more moving of bikes!
Assisted Gym Area: We're dedicated to inclusivity, which is why we're introducing an assisted Elevate gym area to cater to individuals of all abilities. This area will be available during normal opening hours and we will also have small group classes available.
Improvements to dry side changing facilities- now complete!
More changes to the ground floor facilities will really enhance the experience of customers.

- Commenced Friday 26 July 2024.
- Complete – Friday 8 August
Our renovated dry side facilities will boast modern fixtures, fresh decor, and enhanced cleanliness standards, providing a pleasant and hygienic environment for all customers.
New glass mirors above vanity units, new ceiling tiles, floor and wall tiles to be re-grouted and undertake deep clean of existing tiles, painting of walls and door frames, installation of new Kelda showers and new lockers.
More changing room upgrades and new studio floor- starting Monday 29 July
Phase 3 of the project sees us move upstairs again into the changing rooms and large studio.

- Commence Monday 29 July 2024.
- Complete – Friday 16 August 2024.
More changing room upgrades: Reflecting our ongoing commitment to excellence and to creating a positive experience for everyone who visits our leisure centre. We will be removing vanity units and installing new in both changing rooms, new sinks and taps, re-grouting of wall and floor tiles and walls to be repainted.
New floor for existing exercise studio: This upgrade will not only enhance the aesthetics of the studio but also improve your workout experience. We will also be painting the studio too.
