With funding from Severn Trent Water, Ashbourne Leisure Centre anticipates the new hoist will create opportunities to develop a range of inclusive sessions, expanding access to aquatic activities for diverse community groups. These sessions have proven highly impactful at other centres, inspiring Freedom Leisure to extend these benefits to the Ashbourne community in order to improve lives through leisure.
Commenting on the installation, Sue Heyes, Community Fund Officer at Severn Trent, shared her enthusiasm, saying, “This pool hoist will mean a world of difference to people around Ashbourne who may have limited mobility but would benefit from either aqua therapy, or just to help keep fit. We’re genuinely really thrilled to have been able to contribute through this grant.”
Alistair Gould, Area Manager for Freedom Leisure said “We are immensely grateful to be able to receive substantial funding from Severn Trent. Accessibility to our facilities is hugely important, and this funding has enabled us to open the door to so many more individuals. The impact this funding will have on the local community is extensive, and we look forward to welcoming even more people into the pool”
