Arun Leisure Centre is the perfect place to improve your fitness and wellbeing. Whether you choose to workout in the gym, have a Personal Trainer or attend a group fitness class we have it covered. Our friendly and enthusiastic fitness team will motivate and encourage you every step of the way!


Arun Leisure Centre offers something for everyone in our gym. We have a dedicated team of qualified fitness instructors that are here to ensure that whatever your fitness goals, we can help you every step of the way.

We offer an initial gym orientation to all new members, where you will have the opportunity to discuss; your fitness goals, visits per week, likes and dislikes and recieve an overview of exercise options including group exercise class sessions. Knowing what you would like to achieve will mean that we can work together to achieve your goals.

Our gym includes state of the art Technogym equipment. Our fitness instructors will be able to devise an exercise programme for you to follow and load it on to a memory stick / TGS key. During each visit you will be able to check in using your personalised key, plug it into the equipment and allow the key to set up your training levels formed by your instructor. At the end of your workout you can view your results; calories burnt, distance travelled and much more. Keep track as your health and fitness improves with every session.

We offer ongoing programme reviews as part of your membership. Book in with our instructors; learn something new, try a new class, we will keep you on track! 

Our range of equipment includes: Technogym Unity CV equipment, Technogym resistance machines, a dedicated free weights area, functional training with Technogym Omnia, Technogym ARKE functional training equipment, Technogym Kinesis, and much more! 

Personal Training 

Personal Training is a bespoke service that we offer our members.

Personal Training gives our customers the chance to take their fitness and wellbeing goals to the next level. Personal Training sessions are available one to one, joint or group sessions.
This personalised service will help you to achieve your goals with on-going support and guidance.

We offer a range of group exercise classes that cater for all. Fitness classes are available for members and non-members. We want to help you achieve your goals and by taking part in our classes you will enjoy working out with others in a motivational atmosphere. Classes are led by our fantastic class instructors who will support you every step of the way.
Our wide range of classes include Yoga, Pilates, Circuits, Zumba, Les Mills and more. Our coached sessions help to motivate and inspire you to train harder. Classes offer a group training atmosphere that will help members meet others and enjoy training amongst likeminded people.

BODYPUMP is a barbell workout for anyone looking to get lean, toned and fit - fast.

Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a total body workout. Our instructors will coach you through the scientifically proven moves and techniques, pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music - helping you achieve more!  You'll leave the class feeling challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more!

Ideal for anyone and everyone, BODYBALANCE is the yoga-based class that will improve your mind, your body and your life.

During BODYBALANCE an inspired soundtrack plays as you bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves and embrace elements of Tai Chi and Pilates.  Breathing control is a part of all the exercises, and instructors will always provide options for those just getting started.  You'll strengthen your entire body and leave the class feeling calm and centered.  Happy.

Step into a BODYCOMBAT workout and you will punch and kick your way to fitness. This high energy martial-arts style workout is totally non-contact and there are no complex moves to master. Our trained instructors will challenge you to up the intensity and motivate you to make the most of every round. You'll release stress, have a blast and feel like a champ.

Exercise referral schemes are designed to help people who would benefit from regular exercise. Physical activity can play an important role in preventing and managing health conditions such as; coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, mental health problems, musculoskeletal conditions and some cancers. It also has a positive effect on wellbeing and mood, providing a sense of achievement or relaxation and release from daily stress.

Our instructors are all highly experienced, we have level 3 GP referral instructors, and specialised BACPR cardiac rehabilitation instructors in our team. To be referred to us you will need a referral form, which can be completed by health professionals and medical providers. If you feel that you could benefit from our exercise referral scheme, contact us today and discuss your options with one of our instructors. 

phase 4 cardiac rehabilitation

Phase IV is a structured programme of exercise that follows on from hospital rehabilitation. It is an exercise and education programme for people recovering from heart attacks, heart surgery and cardiac interventions. The classes are led by highly qualified and knowledgable BACPR cardiac rehabilitation instructors. It can increase fitness levels, reduce cardiac symptoms, improve health and reduce the risk of future heart problems.

Initially a meeting will be arranged with one of our cardiac referral instructors. An initial assessment and screening will be completed and an appropriate rehabilitation programme discussed.

Our Cardiac referral sessions are held at Bersted Park Community Centre:

  • Mondays: 10.45am - 12.15pm & 6.00pm - 7.30pm
  • Wednesdays: 10.00am - 11.30am, 12.45pm - 1.45pm & 7.00pm - 8.45pm
  • Fridays: 10.45am - 12.15pm

Our phase IV group was established in 2000, and since then has gone from strength to strength. The sessions have benefitted many in the local community over the years. We now run six exercise groups a week at Bersted Park.  All have a friendly and welcoming atmosphere whilst offering specialist support and guidence.
