About Ancient High House

This beautiful house is now believed to be the largest Timber Framed Townhouse left in the country. Built in 1595 for a wealthy merchant it still dominates the High Street today with its imposing wooden structure and multiple windows. The House has rooms decorated in each period style from its construction to the Edwardian period offering you a walk-through time. With changing exhibitions, children’s activities, events and specialist workshops, we have something for everyone to enjoy. Open from Tuesday to Saturday inclusive.

We are delighted to let you know that we have launched our NEW website www.historicstafford.co.uk. Here you will find information on 'What's On' at our beautiful heritage sites in the Stafford area including the iconic Stafford Castle, Izaak Walton's Cottage and the Ancient High House.
