Sport and participation in sport still remains an important part of our culture. Working towards Sport England’s 5 outcomes, across Malvern, we want to contribute to their national target of getting ‘half a million people more active’ by 2020.
Active Communities Malvern will support with local outcomes to Contribute to a ‘More Sporty Malvern’
- Introducing new people into sporting activities
- Improve community links into sports clubs
- Support club development
- Ensure an inclusive and equitable approach to facilities
- Provide local athletes and clubs with support
- Support the annual sports awards evening in Malvern Hills.
Within Malvern we know that 60.8% of adults are active with14.4% of adults being only fairly active, leaving 24.4% of adults in Malvern inactive.
As 54.6% want to do more sport, we develop programmes with key organisations Herefordshire and Worcestershire County Sports Partnership and National Governing bodies such as British Orienteering, to develop more programmes of activity. We work with local sports clubs and want to celebrate local sporting success.
