Across the Forest of Dean we develop a wide range of opportunities and programmes with many local groups and organisations. Some of the key groups we work with include:

We work with Active Gloucestershire who provides valuable updates on physical activity and health information for the county, training courses and funding opportunities.

We work with British Orienteering to deliver their Xplorer initiative engaging families in exploring their local parks to find hidden clues across our three current locations and 10 events a year.

The Forest of Dean District Council are a key partner and we work closely with the community engagement team across GP referral, community transport, young people and dementia awareness.

We work with a variety of National Governing Bodies to provide new programmes for all ages such as Badminton England, England Squash, England Netball and British Cycling.

We work with the University of Gloucestershire to offer placement opportunities to their sports students providing experience in assisting in leisure and community settings. We also support across other modules which incorporate community development.

Two Rivers Housing is an independent not-for-profit organisation based in the Forest of Dean. We work with their Community Engagement Team to provide free Holiday Club activities, bringing families and communities together, while having fun and being active.

England Netball supports the Active Communities team in the training, marketing, delivery and monitoring of Walking Netball and other England Netball initiatives.

This partnership with Badminton England highlights badminton endorsed programmes to local communities, with encouragement and support offered to those who would like to try out the sport; while novice players, families, frequents participants, clubs, and tournament organisers will all be catered for and benefit from improved court scheduling and resource within the FOD.

During the Friday Night multi-sports sessions I have seen the young people not just getting fitter but enjoying it, building up their confidence their self-esteem and their social skills. They have started to build relationships and started playing as a team and encouraging each other no matter what their ability is.
