We work with children & families across FOD of all ages & abilities, encouraging them into an active habit for life through holiday activities, school programmes & more.
Of the 85,957 people living in the Forest of Dean, 22% of the population are aged 0-19 years old which equates to 18,910 young people. Of these, 710 young people aged 16-18 years old in FoD (3.6%) are not in education, employment, or training. With rural communities and links to local schools, we will be developing a wide range of innovative programmes to encourage young people across the Forest to be more active. As a nation, this is the first time that those having children in this decade, may out-live their children. This is due to their inactivity and a lack of good nutrition. Freedom Leisure has a responsibility to provide affordable and engaging opportunities for our young people and we engage young people in many different activities, such as swim lessons, day camps, sports camps, taster sessions, parties, schools coaching and after school clubs.
Winter training sessions for youths aged 7-14 years to learn the basic skills and progress to indoor nets. Based at freedomleisure Newent with strong links at Newent Cricket Club for summer training opportunities. Contact us for more information on the next programme.
