active young people

We work with children & families across FOD of all ages & abilities, encouraging them into an active habit for life through holiday activities, school programmes & more.

With 21.5% of the population aged 0-19 years old, we develop a wide range of innovative programmes including Mountain Biking, Xplorer, holiday play schemes, learn to swim and the Junior Summer Fitness Challenge to encourage young people across FOD to be more active. As a nation, this is the first time that those having children in this decade may out-live their children as a result of inactivity. Freedom Leisure has a responsibility to provide affordable and engaging opportunities for our young people across FOD. We will continue to work closely with our dual-use secondary schools and sixth forms to develop even more activities for those aged 11-18 years.

Cricket Multi-skills

Winter training sessions for youths aged 7-14 years to learn the basic skills and progress to indoor nets. Based at freedomleisure Newent with strong links at Newent Cricket Club for summer training opportunities. Contact us for more information on the next programme.

There’s more to cricket than you think… Balance, Agility, Co-ordination and Enjoyment!

Mountain Biking

An introduction to mountain biking includes working with young people aged between 14-19 years who lack the confidence, financial support or interest in traditional sports. By getting them active and, through taking part we aim to develop their physical health, bike ability, maintenance, map reading and leadership skills.

We have some exciting projects coming 2019!

Events are run through school holidays and our current locations include, Angus Buchanan Grounds in Coleford, Bathurst Park in Lydney, Ruspidge Playground in Cinderford and Newent Lake.
