Health & physical activity come hand in hand and we know the importance of preventing health issues later in life. We support and lead local health programmes in FOD.
Inactivity has one of the biggest financial impacts on the National Health Service and we know the importance of preventing physical and mental health issues later in life. The Forest of Dean has the highest proportion of residents reporting long term limiting health problems at 19.6% of the total population and therefore, with 16,571 adults reporting these health problems, FOD was the only district which exceeded the national figure. Across the district we are in communications with Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning group to support where we can to improve the health of local people.
We support local health programmes including; Exercise Referral Scheme. Our staff across local facilities are trained to encourage everyone who wants to improve their health into an opportunity right for them. For more information email the Community Engagement Team or call 01594 812 617.
