Across FOD we develop & support a range of bespoke community programmes with local community groups for individuals to have fun & stay active regardless of age or ability
Of the 85,957 people living in the Forest of Dean, the greatest demographic are those aged between 45-69 years, 31% of the population and equating to 26,646 adults. 23.8% of the population are aged 65+ (20,257 adults), 1,410 people with dementia in FoD are aged 65+ and 1,600 people have a learning disability in FoD with most people aged 35-74. With a strong latent demand to do more activity and an ageing population, we will be providing a broad range of programmes to encourage active ageing in FoD. Whilst our older generation are living longer, a positive outcome of our improved health care and standard of living, our ageing populations are also costing our services millions due to inactivity. If we can encourage our older generation to take part in physical activity, we are supporting more interaction to combat social isolation whilst contributing to better physical health.

WOW! What a fantastic two weeks of free activities we've had. From August 5th - 16th 2019. We kept over 70 kids active and entertained, focusing on families from our Coleford priority ward and surrounding areas. Our coaches transformed the local park with a variety of games and sports that our local young people could enjoy with their friends and family. With special thanks to Forest of Dean Rotary Club for providing the funding which allowed us to purchase new equipment and host these fantastic activities for free.
Thank you to all those involved, to all of the kids, parents, coaches & volunteers who made it happen. See you in the summer of 2020!
