Arc Leisure, Matlock, is extremely proud to announce that it has been awarded the Silver Award in the Health Impact category at the Swim England Awards which took place on Saturday 18th November at a gala event in Birmingham.
These prestigious awards, organised by Swim England, the recognised National Governing Body for aquatics in England, recognise and celebrate the incredible spirit of aquatics by showcasing individuals, groups and organisations for their passion, dedication and outstanding acheivement.
The Aqua Rehabilitation classes at Arc Leisure, Matlock was awarded the Silver medal by a panel of industry judges because of its unique offering in the area providing an affordable and supportive exercise programme for people with short term & long-term health conditions.
These instructor led sessions have become an established part of the swimming pool programme and a key part of the centre’s health referral programme where local GPs and physiotherapists recommend regular exercise at the leisure centre to their patients as part of their individual rehabilitation and health improvement plans.
We are immensely proud to have received the Silver Award in the Health Impact category. These classes led by our highly trained instructors have made such a difference to so many people and has seen tangible, positive results for all its participants. It is fantastic for the team to be recognised for their positive impact that they have on the community of the Derbyshire Dales.

Participants undertake an initial consultation to assess their individual needs and are then provided a comprehensive set of exercises for them to follow. The sessions are open to anyone and is another example of how Freedom Leisure can improve the lives of those in the local Derbyshire Dales community through a caring and supportive activity programme.
