Drowning Prevention Week

Drowning Prevention Week

Drowning Prevention Week, created by the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) will see a deluge of water safety activity flood the UK and Ireland from 14 - 24 June, 2019.

The national campaign aims to ensure everyone knows how to have fun and stay safe near water. More than 700 people drown in the UK and Ireland every year, that’s one every 10 hours, and many more suffer injury, sometimes lifechanging, when they survive drowning.

From 14 - 24 June come along and take part in some activities to raise awareness of being safe in water. We will have a colouring competition & puzzles to complete at the same time as teaching children about water safety!

We also have more practical ways that you can learn to be safe in the water. Why not sign up your child or even yourself to your local Freedom Leisure Swim School. You will learn a priceless life skill that also allows you to have fun in the water on summer holidays and more importantly stay safe in the water.

We also run rookie lifeguard courses to enable your children to learn lifesaving and help others to stay safe too.
