Leisure Centres across Derbyshire Dales are preparing to open their doors once again as part of a phased reopening of services.
Working in partnership, Freedom Leisure and Derbyshire Dales District Council are delighted to announce that three of its centres will open on Friday 28th August, followed by a second phase of reopening which will see the remaining facility open to the public in October.
Freedom Leisure is delighted to be able to welcome you back to your community leisure facilities in Derbyshire Dales and the staff teams at the centres are excited to be back. Things may be a bit different when you return but you can expect the same high levels of service that you have always had - they can’t wait to see everyone!
Freedom Leisure, which operates the centres on behalf of the Council, has introduced a number of safety measures in line with Government guidance to help customers return to activities in a safe and clean environment.
All activities, including use of the gym, swimming pool and fitness classes, will need to be pre-booked as the number of people permitted in each facility will be limited for safety and NHS Test and Trace purposes.
The sites opening on Friday 28th August include:
Access will be available to the swimming facilities at Arc Leisure Matlock & Ashbourne Leisure Centre from Monday 31st August.
The second phase will see Bakewell Swimming Pool & Gym opening on Friday 23rd October.
A spokesperson for Derbyshire Dales District Council confirmed:
“We have financially supported the leisure centres and their staff from the start of the coronavirus pandemic and have now committed additional funding to enable these fantastic Derbyshire Dales facilities to reopen safely for the benefit of our residents in times that remain challenging and unprecedented.”
Ivan Horsfall-Turner, Managing Director of Freedom Leisure, added:
“Freedom Leisure is delighted to be reopening Arc Leisure Matlock, Ashbourne Leisure Centre and Wirksworth Leisure Centre on Friday 28th August. Our teams are working hard to make sure the centres are ready and waiting to welcome back the local community, and we look forward to seeing everyone very soon.”
