how to access ystradgynlais sports centre under the 'new normal'

We're super excited to be opening on 10th August and getting you back to exercise at your favourite Leisure Centre.  However, things are going to be a little different to when we closed in March.

We've been working hard to make sure the safety of our customers and staff is our number one focus. We will be following our 'COVID-safety-matters' guidelines and maintaining social distancing within the centre and having a robust and thorough cleaning regime in place to ensure all our customers have the best environment to maintain their physical and mental wellbeing.

general changes

There will be clear signage showing the routes you are required to take around the centre and areas that are out of use. If in any doubt, please keep to the right hand side in corridors at all times.

Main pool building is using a one way in and one way exit system.

Changing rooms and showers will be unavailable except for those using our swimming pools. Customers are asked to come prepared i.e. beach ready, with swim wear worn under clothing to minimise your time spent in changing rooms.

We can only accept contactless payments.  Please bring change with you if required, for lockers (poolside only) or vending products.

Water fountains will be unavailable, please bring pre-filled water bottles with you.

Our staff will be on hand as always but please remember to respect the social distancing rule when requesting assistance from our team members

gym

All fitness sessions at the centre MUST be booked in advance.  You will no longer be able to just walk into the centre for your workout.  Please book your session online here

Please ensure you arrive for your allotted session on time.  Late entrants will still be required to leave after their booked gym session time which is one hour and will not be permitted to stay longer.  This will allow us time to clean the area before the next session and to allow as many people as possible to use the facility each day.

The gym will have limited numbers in there to give you confidence and space to enjoy your session.

The bookable slots are as follows;

Monday to Friday

6.30am-7.30am, 8.00am-9.00am, 10.00am-11.00am, 11.30am-12.30pm, 1.00pm-2.00pm, 2.30pm-3.30pm, 4.00pm-5.00pm, 5.30pm-6.30pm, 7.00pm-8.00pm

Saturday and Sunday

9.00am-10.00am, 10.30am-11.30am, 12.00pm-1.00pm, 1.30pm-2.30pm

classes

All fitness classes MUST be booked in advance.  Please book your session online here

Ideally customers should bring their own mats for classes. If using our centre mats please ensure these are fully sanitised after use.

We have reduced maximum customer numbers per class to suit the room.

Our revised group exercise timetable can be seen here

  • All class equipment will be thoroughly cleaned between sessions.
  • Extra time will be allowed in between classes for cleaning.
  • Class start times will be staggered to avoid congestion at reception and outside the studios.

pool

As part of our phased return, the swimming pool will reopen on Monday 17th August.

All pool sessions at the centre MUST be booked in advance.  You will no longer be able to just walk into the centre for your swim.  Please book your session online here

Please ensure you arrive for your allotted session on time.  Late entrants will still be required to leave after their booked swim session time which is one hour and will not be permitted to stay longer.  There will be a 15 minute slot available to swimmers following each swim session, to use the changing room and shower area. For example if your booked swim session is 9.00am-10.00am - you will need to leave the changing rooms no later than 10.15am.  This will allow us time to clean the area before the next session and to allow as many people as possible to use the facility each day.

The lane swimming sessions will have limited numbers in there to give you confidence and space to enjoy your session.

We have also introduced Family POD sessions, where you can book one of the 4 pod areas of the pool for your family (please ensure you have booked the correct area to be suitable for all members of the pod), with a maximum of 6 per POD.  Please phone reception to book a POD.

Our revised swimming pool timetable can be seen here

  • No stopping in lanes, if you need to stop / take a rest, you will need to exit the pool
  • No backstroke permitted in lane swimming sessions
  • Maximum of 6 per family pod booking - Pod 1 shallow 1m depth, Pod 2 Shallow 1.2m depth, Pod 3 Middle 1.5m depth Pod 4 deep 2m depth.

cleaning

We have implemented and enhanced our cleaning regime throughout the centre.  All areas will be cleaned regularly.  It is essential that members clean down each machine after use – equipment may not be shared unless it has been cleaned down between uses.

Hygiene stations are available in all high-touch areas offering hand sanitiser and medical-grade disinfectant and sanitising wipes.

Personal gym towels are permitted but please use wipes and paper towels provided when cleaning down equipment and dispose of them after each use.
