The Swim England Dementia Friendly Swimming Project has been developed to enhance the swimming experience of those living with dementia and their carers by improving facilities and removing barriers.
There are 800,000 people living with dementia in the UK. Research shows that low impact exercise can be beneficial for physical and mental health and can improve the quality of life for people in all stages of dementia. Swimming in particular has the added benefits of reducing anxiety, improving mood and enhancing psychological well being.
Wednesdays 2.00pm - 3.00pm (term time only)
Each session is led by a qualified Swimming Teacher and caters for all abilities.
Please note: Carers are not necessarily required to accompany the participant in the water. Contact us to discuss how we can support those wishing to attend this session.
