Work has started on a major building project to completely refurbish the changing rooms at Pool in the Park. Freedom Leisure and Woking Borough Council are working together to improve the facilities for all users whilst maintaining the activity programme, however during the project there will be some unavoidable disruption. Please read on for more information.
From 6th January 2020 much needed refurbishment works will begin on the changing rooms at Pool in the Park.
Please be aware this project will cause some disruption and there will be challenges to overcome, however the end result will without doubt be worth the wait and we do hope you will be happy with the new improved facilities.
We would like to thank you for your patience during this major building project.
The project will see changes to the following areas:
The project will be conducted in 2 phases due to the extent of the work required.
See detailed map below
CLOSED from 6 January for 12 weeks (approximately)
Please see the plan below of the areas closed during this phase.
The main pool changing rooms wil be closed. All public will need to change in the lagoon changing rooms and access the main and teaching pool via the temporary heated tunnel. Signage will be in place to assist navigating the areas concerned.
During the phase 1 refurbishment, changing areas will be extremely limited so we ask that customers only bring essential items with them and ideally pushchairs and prams would be left in cars to avoid blocking any access routes. Buggies and pushchairs will not be allowed on poolside due to the lack of space and for health and safety reasons. Please ask for assistance at reception.
The only remaining toilets will be by the leisure pool or the upstairs vending area opposite the reception desk and the remaining showers will be by the leisure pool.
Please also ensure anyone taking part in swimming lessons or other activities uses the toilet before leaving the changing rooms due to the distance required accessing the leisure pool facilities.
Due to the teaching pool spectator area being closed, seating will be placed along the side of the pool. This will also be limited so we ask that parents only bring essential belongings onto poolside.
Leisure Lagoon changing room closed for 10 week duration
This phase will begin as soon as possible after phase 1 is completed. Temporary signage will be adjusted to access the leisure pool and all the new cubicles and lockers at the main pool end of the changing village will be available for use. More details to follow.
