Swim School and the 'new normal'

August 15 2020

We're nearly ready to welcome our swim school back! We've been busy ensuring we are adhering to government guidelines and Swim England guidance in order to make sure we are providing a safe environment for children to attend their lessons.

What we're doing...

  • Adhering to government guidelines and Swim England guidance.
  • Reduced the capacity of lesson to 6 per class.
  • Lessons will now run for 25 minutes.
  • Stage 1, 2 & our pre-school lessons have been temporarily put on hold as they require a teaching assistant in the water, these classes will return as soon as its safe to do so.
  • Reviewed the teaching positions for lessons.
  • Created a poolside route to minimise contact points and cross-overs.
  • Revised the pool layout and set up requirements.
  • Increased chlorine levels and air ventilation.
  • Introduced a comprehensive cleaning programme of the changing areas whilst the lessons are in progress.
  • Sanitising all equipment between lessons and developed an increased hygiene regime.
  • Introduced a queueing and one way system throughout the Centre.

general pointers...

  • Follow the one-way system at all times.
  • We will allow one parent or guardian to spectate if the child is very young.
  • We advise due to lack of space spectators are limited, parents are asked to wait in their cars where possible until the end of the session.
  • Contact time at reception is to be kept to an absolute minimum so all re-bookings and class changes must be done by phone or via email.
  • Payment and collection of badges and certificates cannot be done at reception.
  • Showers are NOT available at the end of the lesson.
  • Toilets are available on a one in, one out basis.
  • Strictly one parent per child when escorting them to and from the changing area.
  • Strictly no changing on the prom.
  • Teachers will disinfect all equipment by submerging it in chlorinated pool water used before and after each lesson.
