City of Worcester Sports Awards

Freedom Leisure and Sport Worcester celebrate the city's sporting talent by hosting the annual City of Worcester Sport Awards.

Nominations open

Nominations for the City of Worcester 2017 are now open!

We have 16 awards to nominate across and we have made this year’s nominations even easier by providing an online nomination form. Be sure to nominate if you know a team, individual, school, volunteer, coach or club from Worcester who has shown great dedication or excelled in sport since August 2016 to give your local hero(s) the recognition they deserve. We’d like to say thank you to all the City of Worcester Sport Awards 2017 sponsors.

The evening is held in September at the University Arena and is hosted by Olympic legend, Steve Cram CBE. The evening is a wonderful celebration of the City’s sporting talent in grass roots sport. Winners are nominated in the County Sport Awards where winners of specific categories are nominated in the regional BBC Midlands Awards and then the BBC Unsung hero is nominated in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards.

In 2015, the winner of our Howard Peters award for outstanding contribution award, Alec Davies, was crowned the BBC Midlands Unsung Hero and attended the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards. Without a nomination for him in these local awards, his achievements would not have been recognised.

The nomination deadline is Sunday 6th August 2017.
