Rye Sports Centre boasts a 25m pool with superb facilities for both serious swimmers and families to enjoy.
Swimming is a great value for money activity for all the family, individuals or groups of young people to take part in. Whatever your age or ability everyone can enjoy the pool. We run inflatable & float sessions during the school holidays or you can simply watch from the side while you enjoy a drink from the cafe.
Pool Admission Policy
All children under 8 must be accompanied and supervised in the water by a responsible adult. An adult may only take responsibility for a maximum of two children under the age of 8 years. The accompanying adult must be either the child's parent or an adult aged 16 or over and must actively supervise the child/children in the pool. Children under 8 years who are weak or non-swimmers must wear approved buoyancy aids or will need to be supervised by an adult on a ratio of one to one.
Children 8 years and over are welcome to swim unaccompanied during open swim sessions but guardians must consider the child’s swimming ability before leaving them unattended.
Because water is about 800 times denser than air, you can work harder, and burn more calories!Swim England
swimming for fitness
Regular swimming sessions can help to improve your overall health and strengthen your heart. It's a great form of exercise for the whole body, infact a half an hour swim can burn over 200Kcal.
The swimming pool provides a great environment for warming up or cooling down after a strenuous gym workout but is also a very effective exercise in its own right. The water provides additional resistance for your muscle groups to work against and supports some of your body weight reducing the strain on your joints.
Why not try an aquafit class and burn around 300 calories? The class uses the natural resistance of the water to tone and raise your heart rate. Click here for timetable.
There are unisex changing rooms with individual and communial showers, a gradual sloped entrance to the pool and a traditional sauna located on poolside which is free to members.
swimming for relaxation
After a busy day juggling the demands of everyday life, swimming offers a fantastic opportunity to restore calm and escape the noise of the day.
It offers the perfect excuse for a digital detox and a great time to avoid all distractions.
Regular swimming can help improve sleep patterns & lower stress levels.
