Drowning prevention week

June 4 2018

Around 400 people needlessly drown in the UK every year and thousands more suffer injury, some life changing, through near-drowning experiences

Drowning prevention week is a national campaign from the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS). By spreading water safety advice far and wide, drowning prevention week aims to teach people how to stay safe near water. This year it runs from 15th-25th June.

Our swim school already incorporates important learning about water safety including, retrieval, entry/exit from the water, floatation and swimming skills.

We will be running some workshops on Saturday 16th June to learn the basics of CPR and First Aid where you can practice on the mannequins and ask our experts any questions about lifesaving. Places are limited so please contact the site to book your place.

  • Save a baby's life 1.15-1.40pm
  • Save a child's life 1.45-2.10pm
  • Save an adult's life 2.15-2.40pm
  • Save a life 2.45-3.10pm

Also you can also get involved with our rookie lifeguard sessions for children aged 8-14 years. See if you have what it takes to save someone from potentially drowning. Taster sessions (must be booked in advance) on Wednesday 20th June 4.00-5.15 & 4.45-6.00pm.
